Pappus

Bayan Derma requested to engage visitors and entice patients with a seasonal variant art piece at their new clinic in Al Hamra Kuwait Tower.

I was inspired by their logo: a blown open Dandelion and started researching about the flower and its components, where, I came across many folklores, myths, biomimicry applications and then, my concept was born: Pappus

Around 113 of them create the flower’ fluff.
They have beautiful morphing abilities and relationship with water.
It felt only natural to associate it with the client’s brand.
I was influenced by the dance of its weight and the seasonal micrographs of the Pappus, revealing feathery bristles during spring and hoarfrost awns in winter.

My piece was created visualizing, an above average size micrograph, of the last standing head seed, after a strong puff, on the flower’ disk floret crown.
It was displayed during springtime and the feathery bristles are deployable to change and prop seasonally.
